ROUND LAKE HARBOR - JULY 1934
Pictured above is a typical scene in Round Lake Harbor prior to World War II.
Due to the lack of docking facilities many of the larger yachts were forced to anchor out in the harbor.
To the far left in the picture, at her home dock, is the SYLVIA. Left center, the DORIS, a regular summer visitor, usually laid anchor in the same spot for two weeks in July.
Right center, the SUZABELLE. Back of her, docked at the large boathouse (now a marina), the REOMAR IV, owned by R.E. Olds. The boathouse was built to house this yacht when she was SYLVIA IV, and owned by Logan Thomson.
(Note: With the advent of World War II all these large pleasure craft disappeared from the scene. This was due to the new tax structure. For many years after the war few craft longer than 45 feet were to be seen. It was some time before loopholes discovered in the tax laws changed all this.)

THE MANITOU TIED UP AT WILBUR'S DOCK

MANITOU BECOMES ISLE ROYALE
With a new profile, the old "MANITOU" steams through the channel as the "ISLE ROYALE."
